Key West Schooners
& Sailing, Sailboats, and Sails.
Sailing the waters of Key West aboard a tall ship is an adventure most
want to repeat. Majestic and towering, these vessels remind admirers of
Key West's rich maritime history. You can relax aboard one of the island's
historic schooners, each spacious and impressive. With tall wooden masts
securing their billowing sails in the breeze, the ships leisurely meander
the calm waters as the sun sets. The boats are very stable and offer drinks
for the duration of the sail. The crews are happy to oblige guests who
want to help hoist the sails.
Here are our favorites:
Launched
in 1993 the 80 ft. Schooner LIBERTY is a steel
hulled replica of early 1800's schooners used as cargo-carrying
vessels and by New England fishermen. LIBERTY is Coast Guard licensed
to carry 49 passengers.
Sunset sail schedule:
5-7 pm in winter, 6:30-8:30 in summer. $57 for adults/$35 for children
12 & under. Includes beer, wine, champagne, and soda.
This schooner will no longer be available after May 1, 2008.

Two
sunset sail options are available aboard the magnificent 125 foot
Liberty Clipper. This schooner is not available May 16 to
early December.
On Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays this tall-ship
offers a 2.5 hour sunset dinner cruise from December - May. This
is a great way to combine a great sunset trip with a truly memorable
meal. It features a Caribbean style barbecue with all the trimmings
PLUS unlimited beer, wine, champagne, and sodas.
Dinner sail schedule: 5-7:30
pm (Dec.-Mar), 6:30-9:00 (Apr-May)
$79 for adults/$55 children 12 & under. Complimentary sodas,
beer, wine, & champagne.
On Wednesday, Fridays, and Saturdays, this tall-ship
offers a 2-hour sunset sail which includes unlimited beer, wine,
champagne, and sodas PLUS an array of gourmet appetizers (full liquor
cash bar is also available on board)
Sunset sail schedule: 5:00-7:00
pm (Dec.-Mar), 6:30-8:30 (Apr-May)
$65 for adults (discount price for children 12 & under)

The
86' Schooner Appledore is a traditional, double-masted
schooner. Built in 1978, its maiden voyage circumnavigated the planet.
This all-wooden vessel is extremely stable and strong. You will
not soon forget the beautiful brightwork (varnished wood), towering
masts, and huge billowing sails. This trip is only available from
Thanksgiving to Memorial Day.
Sunset sail schedule: 5:00-7:00
pm (daily from Thanksgiving to Memorial Day). $49 per adult/$24.50
for children 12 & under. Includes premium beers, wines, soft
drinks, fruit & cheese platters.

The
80' Schooner Jolly II Rover is an impressive steel
hulled, traditional styled, square rigged, topsail schooner with
red sails. Built in 1994, this vessel offers a classic, traditional
sailing adventure with a "hint of piracy" (they have cannons!)
This sunset sail is so affordable because the boat does not provide
alcohol. Instead, passengers are allowed to bring their own beer
& wine on board.
Sunset sail schedule: 4:30-6:30
daily. $35 per person. Complimentary water & ice. Bring your
own beer/wine allowed.
