Stunning sunset photo with colorful beach wildflowers and sailboats in the distance

Beachside wildflowers provide a vibrant foreground to last nights colorful sunset. Here, Gaillardia pulchella, commonly known as Indian Blanket, abundantly blooms near the shoreline of Fort Zachary Taylor, overlooking the Key West harbor. This colorful salt-tolerant flower is native to Florida and prefers the sandy soil found near the ocean.
Although it wasn’t captured, multiple sunset viewers confirmed that a “green flash” occurred. A green flash is when the final sliver of setting sun turns green in the right atmospheric conditions. This rarely happens and is considered a treat to witness.
