If you born in 1988 or sooner, you must check-in 60-minutes early to complete a mandatory Florida Boaters Safety Test, as per Florida regulations. The test cost is $3)

Rules and Regulations for jet skis and parasailing:

Guests under 18 must have a parent at check in to show valid, government photo ID
Must have one credit card per reservation
Guests cannot participate in Jet skiing if they are pregnant, 3 or under or do not have a basic understanding of English

SNUBA

Like snorkeling, but you can breath underwater thanks to scuba air tanks floating on the surface.

With SNUBA, you breathe through air tanks floating on the surface – allowing you to really explore the reef. A guide, with SCUBA equipment, will accompany you.

An increasingly popular ocean activity is SNUBA diving (Surface Nexus Underwater Breathing Apparatus), which, unlike SCUBA diving, does not require any type of certification.

At depths of up to twenty feet, you’ll breathe air from tanks floating on the surface via long hoses and mouthpieces (regulators).

While SNUBA diving, you’ll be free from wearing heavy tanks and you’ll breath normally while underwater…just like a fish!

The entire time the divemaster accompanies you on your journey underwater. With a twenty-minute lesson from your divemaster, you will be diving the reef that same day.

Traditional Sailboat Snorkel

Smaller group, impressive mono-hull sailboat, offering relaxed snorkel trips to the reef

There is more room on this Key West snorkeling boat because it only takes half its capacity.

This elegant boat, the sailing vessel Floridays, offers a great three-hour Key West snorkeling trip.

Twice daily they sail to the reef. The impressive 60′ sailboat has a capacity of 31 passengers, but only takes 16. This extra room on such a big boat feels luxurious. And yet, the price is only a few dollars more than the catamarans.

What to expect:

Check in 15 minutes prior to departure. (Boat is certified to hold 31 passengers, but only takes 16 to go snorkeling, giving you plenty of room on the boat.) You’ll sail for 1-hour to the reef, then have 1-hour to snorkel, and next sail back for 1-hour. Trips are intentionally timed to be 1-hour off of the big catamaran schedules so there are less people at the reef when you snorkel.

What you should bring:

We suggest a towel, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, camera, and any snacks you want. A waterproof camera is also fun for recording your snorkeling adventure.

Trip Details:

$79 per person
Morning trip: 10:00 am -1:00 pm (winter departs at 9 am)

Private Snorkeling Charters

Enjoy privacy, a bit of luxury, and your own unique charter. And all if it in the incredibly beautiful ocean surrounding Key West.

If you are really looking to get away from it all, then there is no better way than on the water and aboard your own private vessel.

All snorkeling gear and beverages are provided, and you can bring aboard whatever else you would like to enjoy.

The Captain is happy to make whatever extra arrangements to make your trip as you desire. And if you like, lending a hand with sailing the boat is welcome – just mention it to the Captain.

The boat has a 6-passenger maximum, as per Coast Guard regulations. This private-charter sailboat (dare we say yacht) is very well maintained and is wonderful for a Key West snorkeling trip.

Blue Ice

47′ Sloop, one of Key West’s largest and fastest 6-passenger sailing vessels.

What to expect:

Board this impressive vessel in the Historic Seaport fifteen minutes prior to your charter’s start time. You’ll leave the dock and sail 6 miles to the coral reef. The water is 20 feet deep there, and coral grows to nearly the surface. You’ll then have plenty of time to snorkel the warm, usually calm water, relax, and enjoy the beautiful scenery. After that, you’ll have a leisurely sail back to Key West.

Includes snorkeling gear, beach towels, beer, wine, champagne, soft drinks, and bottled water. 4-hour charter also includes platter with cheese, crackers, and fresh fruit. 7-hour charter also includes deli sandwiches.

Catamaran Snorkeling Trips

Entering and exiting the water is easy from the catamarans.

These large boats are spacious, stable, and fun. Catamaran boats have two hulls, providing a very stable platform to enjoy being on the ocean.

For low cost, you will sail, snorkel, and have a party. You will learn how to snorkel, have plenty of time for snorkeling at the coral reef, and enjoy a toast on the sail back to Key West.

All equipment is provided, and when you’ve completed your Key West snorkeling adventure, they will offer complimentary beer and wine.

Bring sun protection, good sun glasses and a snack or picnic basket.

Choose from an early morning, early afternoon, or a combo snorkel/sunset trip that leaves in the late afternoon, and after snorkeling, returns to the Key West harbor for a sunset cruise.

Key West Reef Snorkeling Tour – MORNING

Three-hour snorkel trips aboard 65′ catamarans.

What to expect:

Thirty minutes before departure you’ll check in at the dock in the historic quarter (Old Town). Next, for approximately 1-hour, you will leisurely sail six miles to the reef while mates provide soft drinks, equipment, and instruction. Once at the reef, you have up to an hour to snorkel and explore the coral and marine life. Then it’s time for the 1-hour sail back, when mates will be serving soft drinks, water, beer, and wine.

This trip visits the Gulf of Mexico side of Key West where you’ll snorkel over smaller patch reefs and explore the mangroves aboard kayaks

These trips begin with a trip on a large sailboat and takes you deep into the tranquil, natural habitat of Key West’s backcountry.

Fresh fruit and chilled drinks are served while you choose a single or double kayak and receive easy paddling instructions.

You’ll silently glide through crystal-clear creeks and shallow-water flats filled with mangrove snappers and baby nurse sharks while your guide enlightens you on topics ranging from marine life to local folklore.

After a delicious lunch prepared on-board by your crew, you’ll wear snorkel gear for a tour of the beautiful patch reefs covered with sponges, soft corals and starfish and set foot on white-sand beaches and sand bars.

These are high quality trips that are guaranteed to please people of all ages.

The half-day trips depart twice a day and last 4.5 hours. The full-day trip departs once a day and lasts 6.5 hours.

Trip details:

This trip visits the “backcountry” islands of Key West where you will snorkel the seagrass beds and smaller patch coral reefs, and kayak amongst mangrove islands. Check-in 30 minutes before your trip start time at a convenient marina in the Old Town district. You’ll sail from downtown Key West aboard a 60-foot schooner which carries the snorkeling gear, kayaking equipment, beverages, and a light snack. Friendly and knowledgeable crew do a good job of interpreting the eco-system and encouraging an enjoyable and relaxing time.

Times:

- Morning trip: 9 am – 1:30 pm during winter; 9:30 am – 2:00 pm during summer

The full-day trip is our favorite trip. Six hours of pure relaxation, exploration, and excitement. Delicious, wholesome lunch is included.

Trip details:

Visits reef and backcountry island, and sometimes a sandbar. Check-in 30 minutes before your trip start time. You’ll sail from downtown Key West out to the reef for snorkeling. Then you’ll head to the “backcountry” where you’ll have the opportunity to kayak through the mangroves and snorkel the seagrass and patch coral in the area. You’ll see lots of juvenile creatures who use this habitat as a nursery.
