RV park Key West
Boyd's Campground is the closest to Key West and overlooks the water.

The popularity of RV camping combined with the scarcity of land in the Keys creates a shortage of good options for the recreational vehicle travelers.

Key West does not permit recreational vehicles to camp overnight on city streets, and so must find a "home". Also, the Keys are a no discharge zone, meaning that RVs, as well as boats, must pump out their holding tanks at approved facilities. Anyone using a storm drain to dump their holding tank will face severe fines.

If you are coming, make arrangements well ahead of time. Also, due to the cramped nature of many Key's roadways, especially Key West, it is very handy to have a good, working, rear view camera.

As for campground, here are a couple of good ideas.

Boyds Campground located on Stock Island, about 1.2 miles outside of Key West. You can't do better than Boyds for RV camping. There you will find over 200 RV sites with hookups, a heated swimming pool, a small marina with ramp, four bath houses, laundry facilities, and a Key West bus stop at the front gate.

Sugarloaf Key Resort KOA Kampground This RV park is farther up the Keys, about 14 miles from Key West. Here you will find a nice beach of their own, a marina with boat rentals available, swimming pook, mini-golf, restaurant, bar, and recreational-vehicle rentals. Nearby waters are good for snorkelers, divers, and fishermen.

Many Key Westers and visitors are doing the same thing...running, hiding, & escaping. As the saying goes, we seceded where others failed. America's only Caribbean island is home to free spirit, stunning scenery, and a live and let live attitude.
