Key West Photo of the Day: Brown Pelican on the Pier

Once threatened with extinction from now-banned pesticides in the 1970's, Brown Pelicans are now abundant in Key West, especially during winter.

The Brown Pelican, with its massive wingspan, aerobatic diving, and relative comfort around humans, is a common and beloved sight in Key West. This beauty was perched on White Street Pier keeping an eye on the local fishermen.
